BI Developer / Data Migration Specialist - 6-Month Contract

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Migration Specialist & BI Developer for an initial 6-month contract to work from the Auckland office 3 days a week. You will be responsible for a couple of critical data migration project including decommissioning of legacy reporting sources and migrating the data underlying those reports, ensuring the seamless transfer of data from files to a SQL Server database.

This role requires SSRS expertise to guarantee data integrity and reporting continuity in the new environment.

About the Role & Key Responsibilities

Your core mission is to execute the data migration and validate its success through reporting, acting as the bridge between raw data and business insight.

  • Lead the validation of the migration outcome by leveraging extensive SSRS skills. Ensure all critical existing reports run correctly, quickly, and accurately against the new SQL Server tables.

  • Ingest data from files into the structured SQL Server database.

  • Implement robust data quality checks, error handling, and quarantine processes during migration to ensure data accuracy and maintain an audit trail.


What you'll bring
  • Extensive, proven hands-on experience with SSRS is a Must Have, including complex report design, performance tuning, and data source management.

  • Strong experience in data migration is a Must Have.

  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL Server including stored procedures, functions, indexing strategies.

  • Experience supporting migration projects that involve decommissioning legacy systems and migrating data that underlies key business intelligence reports.
